Who we are?
La Quadra Màgica is people's group with common interests. A people group who that feels the necessity to make theater and for this reason started a company to be able to give exit to their restlessness
We began in the street, we join in an old block of horses in the center of Barcelona, we begin our first representations in this speacial « theater". Our theater is born of the necessity of putting thread to the things in those that we believe: a transgressor theater, Catalan, critical with the society and with the art in general, a theater that continues our satire tradition that has always characterized us, more near the madness than of the good sense, but always being faithful to the reality that surrounds us. To be able to judge our own teachers without fear of upgrading their ideas to try to find our own road.
Ours is an austere theater. It is it, logically, because we are a humble company. But it is also it because we want to demonstrate that it is possible to make a theater without big productions, neither big assemblies. We think that the necessity increases the creativity and the theater is something that everybody have inside and that they are not necessary big resources to apply it.
The work of La Quadra is a team work where all the members of the company work together until the final result. A constant work that evolves in each reharsal, in each representation, in each town and city that we visit and that it makes that the works grow at the same time that we grown ip with them.
In this way the audience is our final objective. We try to make things that make think in our society but without losing the smile. We offer that there is a communion, a direct communication throughout the works and also later. We like to monopolize their opinions, sometimes the most sincere, and we like to see them enjoy, suffer, laugh, cry, live... because after all, this is really the theater.
All this is La Quadra: Catalanism, cynicism, austerity, present and tradition, transgression, illusion and humility. Above all this a people's group that lives for the theater. I hope you enjoy with us.
